What is a California Partnership Academy (CPA)?

A California Partnership Academy (CPA) model is a three-year program, grades ten through twelve, structured as a school-within-a-school. Academies strive to create a close family-like atmosphere, integrating academic and career technical education, as well as establishing viable business partnerships. Emphasis is also place on student achievement and positive postsecondary out-comes. Academies have been carefully evaluated and shown to have positive impacts on school performance.

Multimedia Academy Structure

A team of dedicated Academy teachers work together to implement the program. The team meets regularly to prepare and coordinate cross-curricular projects as students move together in cohorts with their core classes and academy elective. The Academy also hopes to offer motivational activities with private sector involvement to encourage academic and occupational preparation, such as: integrated and project based curriculum, mentor program, classroom speakers, field trips, and exploration of postsecondary and career options. Additionally, workplace learning opportunities such as job shadowing, student internships, and work experience are provided.
