THE FSUSD CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE TO TEACHER GRANT PROGRAM
Assists classified employees in obtaining a teaching credential or a bachelor's degree leading to a teaching credential. This program aims to address the teacher shortage in K-12 classrooms, particularly in areas like bilingual education, math, science, special education, upper elementary grades, and early childhood education, while enhancing the qualifications of our workforce.
The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District has a high need for multiple subject, single subject, and special education teachers. Recognizing that need, the district applied for and has been awarded the grant from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), to assist classified employees who are interested in completing an undergraduate degree and teaching credential or, if they already have a BA/BS, completing a teaching credential.
For those who are accepted into this program, the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District will award up to $3,800 per participant per year for up to four years. This program begins in 2022 and ends on June 30, 2026. Applicants must be willing to complete one year of classroom instruction as a teacher for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District in exchange for each year of funding assistance provided through the Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing program.
Interested FSUSD Classified Employees with a BA/BS degree will be able to access funds for a teaching credential program (plus any undergraduate classes that may be required).
Any current FSUSD Classified Employee with an AA/AS degree (or 2 year equivalent) will be able to request funds to finish a Bachelor's degree and a teaching credential.
