Fairfield, California - The Rodriguez Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter was thrilled to receive news that one of their members had become a candidate for a regional officer position, and another had made it to the finals of the state-speaking competition.
On Thursday of last week, students attended the Regional Officer screening, where Rodriguez High School junior, Olivia Macay, was selected to be on the ballot for regional office as the Solano Alameda Section Vice President. Being slated for a Regional Officer position is a great accomplishment in itself. These officers are responsible for leading and inspiring their peers and providing leadership guidance to the region.
FFA Advisor Bridgette Eldridge said, “I am immensely proud of Olivia for being selected to be on the Regional Officer ballot. Her achievement is a clear reflection of her dedication, perseverance, and exceptional leadership skills. I have no doubt that she will continue to thrive and leave a positive impact in the FFA and beyond!"
Additionally, last Friday, Rodriguez FFA members attended the North Coast Region Speaking Competition at Mendocino College, where Laina Giaramita, Olivia Macay, and Paris Fullen competed. Olivia Macay and Paris Fullen competed in the inaugural El Credo de FFA competition (Spanish creed). Laina Giaramita competed in the Prepared Speech contest and secured second place in the North Coast Region. After this competition, Laina has been named one of the top 24 competitors in the state and she will represent the Rodriguez FFA Chapter at the state-level competition in April.
