Fairfield, CA - Oakbrook Academy of the Arts’ Choir and Dance groups brought a touch of artistic flair to the recent Veterans Day Parade in Fairfield. Their efforts were celebrated at the Fairfield City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 6.
The performance from the Oakbrook Choir and Dance groups stood out among 43 other entries at the Veterans Day Parade and demonstrated excitement, energy, and a creative spirit that resonated with both judges and spectators. The subsequent acknowledgment at the City Council meeting served as a planned celebration of the students' dedication and talent.
Approximately 70 students take part in the Oakbrook Choir, an after-school program led by 2nd-grade teacher Irene Mandate. All students are welcome to join. Additionally, dance classes after school, taught by instructor Yvonne Wayne, have 40 participants in groups called Dancing Dolphins and Dancing Pups. They practice on Tuesday afternoons in the Oakbrook Theater and recently performed at the Fairfield Tree Lighting on December 1st and Oakbrook's Winter Festival on December 7.
"We are incredibly proud of our Choir and Dance groups for their outstanding performance at the Veterans Day Parade. Their creativity and commitment were evident, and it's amazing to see their hard work recognized in the community," said Aimee McGinty, Principal at Oakbrook Academy of the Arts.
