Fairfield, CA -  Students from the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) have been recognized for their creativity and skills in the Solano County Water Agency's Water Awareness Video Contest. Rodriguez High School student Alyssa Bongato secured second place with her animation, "Continuously Conserving Water," earning a prize of $500.

The Solano County Water Agency's annual video contest encouraged students in grades 6 through 12 to create original videos reflecting the theme "Think Outside the Sink: Keeping the Rainfall in Our Reservoir." The contest aimed to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation and planning for the future, even when not in times of drought. A team of regional water efficiency experts selected the top finalists, and a panel of community leaders chose the winners.

Alyssa Bongato, a student in the CTE Computer Arts & Multimedia pathway at Rodriguez High School, demonstrated exceptional artistic skill and creativity in her award-winning video. Mrs. Cook, a teacher at Rodriguez High School, expressed her pride in Alyssa's achievement, saying, "I am so excited and proud of her. Congratulations, Alyssa!"

In addition to Alyssa's second-place finish, an Honorable Mention prize was awarded to Marcus Melberg of Rodriguez High School for his video, "Lawns."

The achievements of Alyssa Bongato and Marcus Melberg demonstrate the talent and dedication of FSUSD students in advocating for water conservation and environmental sustainability. These awards also highlight the impact of project-based learning that encourages students to communicate important messages through art and media.
