Fairfield, CA - On May 14, 2024, ninety-one enthusiastic seventh-grade students from B. Gale Wilson Middle School had the exciting opportunity to visit Solano Community College (SCC). This field trip was designed to introduce students to the college environment and encourage them to start thinking about their educational and career goals early.
During their visit, the students attended interactive presentations on several key areas at SCC. They learned about the Early College High School Program, which offers high school students the chance to earn college credits. The Athletic Department presentation showcased the various sports programs and facilities available at SCC, while the Astronomy program provided a glimpse into the fascinating world of space science. These engaging sessions aimed to inspire students and broaden their horizons regarding future academic possibilities.
In addition to the presentations, the students toured the campus, exploring the diverse range of programs and majors offered at SCC. This hands-on experience allowed them to get a real feel for college life and understand the different academic paths they could pursue in the future.
Victoria Escobar, School Counselor of B. Gale Wilson Middle School, shared her enthusiasm about the trip: "It was amazing to see our students so excited to learn about college and all the opportunities available at SCC. I am hopeful this trip has inspired and motivated our 7th graders to reach academic success and create goals for their future."
