Fairfield, CA - Last week, graduating seniors from Rodriguez High School (RHS) participated in a heartwarming and inspirational tradition by walking the halls of their former elementary schools: Nelda Mundy Elementary School, Cordelia Hills Elementary School, and Oakbrook Academy of the Arts. This event, aimed at celebrating the achievements of the seniors and inspiring younger students, marked the first time RHS has organized such a celebration walk.
During their visits, the seniors reconnected with their former teachers and visited the classrooms where their educational journeys began. They shared their future plans and answered questions from the eager elementary students. The young students were excited to learn about the diverse paths their predecessors are taking, whether heading off to college, joining the workforce, or pursuing other opportunities.
The event was not only a celebration of the seniors' accomplishments but also a motivational experience for the elementary students. Seeing the successful seniors walk through the halls of their schools provided a tangible example of the rewards of hard work and dedication.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Principal Kristen Cherry of Rodriguez High School remarked, "This is the first year that RHS has done anything like this and it was an absolute success! Our 'feeder' elementary school sites were so excited to see our graduating seniors and hear about their future plans. We are going to make this a yearly tradition and hope that it inspires our future students to continue to work hard to reach the goal of graduation!"
The Celebration Walks at Nelda Mundy Elementary School, Cordelia Hills Elementary School, and Oakbrook Academy of the Arts have set a positive precedent, highlighting the importance of community, continuity, and the celebration of academic milestones. RHS looks forward to continuing this inspiring tradition in the years to come.
