Vacaville, CA. — Green Valley Middle School was well represented at the annual North Bay Honor Band performance this past weekend.
Nineteen talented GVMS students joined their peers for a weekend of rehearsal and performance. The Honor Band was held from Jan. 24-26 at Vaca Pena Middle School in Vacaville. Featuring 57 student musicians from Solano and Yolo counties, the event showcased the exceptional skills of young artists chosen through competitive taped auditions.
One of the most notable aspects of this year’s event was the strong representation from Green Valley Middle School. The 19 GVMS students made up a full third of the group, more than any other school in attendance.
Under the guidance of guest conductor Adrian Coulson, retired band director from Dixon High School, the students worked over the weekend, rehearsing a diverse and exciting repertoire. The concert, which took place on Sunday, Jan. 26, was met with enthusiasm and praise from the audience.
Mr. Foreman, band teacher from Green Valley Middle School, expressed immense pride in the students’ hard work and performance, emphasizing how well they represented their school and the community. One highlight of the performance was an energetic rendition of “Shakespeare Meets Godzilla.”
The North Bay Honor Band continues to be an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build camaraderie, and showcase their musical talents at a regional level. The event is an enduring reminder of the vibrant youth music scene in Solano and Yolo counties.
