Kids from Grange Middle School learning about financial literacy

Fairfield, CA Grange Middle School students got to experience some adult responsibilities during a recent financial literacy program presented at the school.

GMS eighth-graders recently completed the "Generation Wealth" course sponsored by: Travis Credit Union in partnership with Solano County Office of Education. The course offers an immersive experience that simulates real-life financial decisions.

According to Principal Heather Oja, the interactive presentation engaged students in learning budget skills like saving, investing, planning and monthly expenses. Each student was then assigned a career and salary, and explored real-life monthly expenses and learned how to budget.

“Students were all engaged in this interactive presentation,” Principal Oja said, adding, “We love partnering with our community to make these events happen.”

According to Travis Credit Union’s website, “Generation Wealth educates students on the four pillars of financial wellness.”

The course supports Grange Middle School’s mission of encouraging each student to thrive in the 21st century, preparing all students for successful future roles in society.
