Fairfield, CA – The Mary Bird Early Childhood Education Center was awash with color and laughter on April 4 as children and their families celebrated the Week of the Young Child.

The center’s fourth annual “The World is a Rainbow” performance featured performances by the center’s young students, surrounded by rainbow-colored decorations. Dressed in a kaleidoscope of colors representing the hues of the rainbow, students from all classes at Mary Bird Early Childhood Education Center sang and signed the lyrics to “The World is a Rainbow”. The students' families were invited to attend the performance, adding to the event’s festive atmosphere.

The Week of the Young Child, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is a joyous week dedicated to celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities.

“The Week of the Young Child celebration at Mary Bird Early Childhood Education Center was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talents and creativity of our young learners,” Principal Anna Mansker said. “It is heartwarming to see our students and their families come together to celebrate the joy of learning and early childhood education.”

The Week of the Young Child celebration at Mary Bird Early Childhood Education Center ran from March 31 to April 4, featuring a variety of engaging activities aimed at promoting early learning and fostering family engagement. Students participated in musical performances, art projects, and parent engagement gatherings throughout the week. These activities not only provided opportunities for creative expression and learning but also reinforced the importance of early childhood education in nurturing children’s development. Moreover, they helped cultivate a strong sense of community among students, parents, and district staff.
