Fairfield, CA - A group of twenty-one Armijo High School students showcased their commitment to community service last Saturday as they volunteered at the Solano Food Bank. These compassionate students, under the guidance of Armijo High School teacher Vanessa Walling-Sisi, sorted through tons of produce, which will be distributed to thousands of local families in need.
For years, Vanessa Walling-Sisi has made it a tradition to invite new International Baccalaureate students to participate in this inspiring community service initiative. In total, Armijo High School students bagged 1,350 pounds of apples, 1,020 pounds of plums, 1,240 pounds of carrots, and 1,600 pounds of onions. The event aims to demonstrate to students that community service can be not only impactful but also enjoyable.
Vanessa Walling-Sisi, the organizer of this effort, noted, "Since 2017, I have been inviting small groups of students, but this year I was truly delighted to see the remarkable turnout of 21 students who dedicated their Saturday to positively impact our community.”
The community involvement by Armijo High School students is set to continue as they join forces with the Solano Food Bank for the "Feed the Need" donation campaign scheduled for November. During this campaign, student volunteers will encourage Safeway shoppers to donate what they can to help support the food bank.
Armijo High School and its dedicated students are committed to making a difference, one act of kindness at a time. Their efforts continue to inspire and demonstrate the incredible potential for positive change when individuals come together with a shared vision of helping others in need.
