Fairfield, CA - The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) hosted its Annual Back to School Resource Fair on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Fairfield. The event marked a significant milestone in the community, bringing together over 40 agencies to equip FSUSD students and families for the upcoming academic year.

A long-standing tradition within FSUSD, the Back to School Resource Fair has been a symbol of support and unity for families for more than two decades. The event aimed to provide essential resources to students, establishing a sturdy foundation for their success and growth in the forthcoming school year.

This year's fair saw an unprecedented turnout, with volunteers distributing 1,900 backpacks. Attendees were able to connect with community resources, enjoy live entertainment and games, and receive complimentary school supplies. Alongside this, the Fairfield Police Officers Association provided 1,400 hotdog lunches, Touro University administered 40 Tdap vaccinations, the Fairfield Homeless Intervention team raffled 50 bicycles, and the Lions Club conducted 136 eye screening checks.

Reflecting on the event, Marbeya Ellis, Family Resource Center Manager and the driving force behind the fair's organization, expressed, "We are excited about the great success of this year's event, which has showcased the unity and support within our community. The Back to School Resource Fair has become an eagerly anticipated tradition for FSUSD, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity it provides to support and uplift our students as they embark on another successful year.”

The success of the 25th Annual Back to School Resource Fair would not have been possible without the invaluable support and dedication of our community partners, including the Fairfield Police Officers and Managers Associations, the Fairfield Homeless Intervention and Community Action Team (which embedded a bonus Homeless Outreach Partnership Event), the City of Fairfield, Kaiser Permanente, BrandGOV Outreach, Centene Corporation, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Community United Methodist Church, Costco, Fairfield Community Services Foundation, Fairfield Host Lions Club, Farmers Insurance, FAST Transit, Folklorico Juvenil Danzantes Unidos de Vacaville, Fairfield-Suisun Management Association, Key Cuts The Resource Center, Shelter Inc., Solano County Office of Education, Solano Public Health, and St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Their contributions played an integral role in making this event a remarkable success.
