Students exploring in the Suisun Marsh

Fairfield, CA -  Crystal Middle School's Science Summer Camp has made a triumphant return for its fourth consecutive year, offering incoming 6th to 8th-grade students an exciting opportunity to explore the Suisun Marsh. This engaging camp, led by dedicated science teachers Lucero Angel and Tara Spinelli in collaboration with the Natural Resources Group, provides a comprehensive week-long program focused on the habitation and conservation of the Suisun Marsh.

Throughout the camp, students immerse themselves in both classroom learning and hands-on exploration. They spend time kayaking and observing the natural beauty of the Suisun Marsh, gaining valuable insights into its unique ecosystem.

"We are so excited to continue to provide this experience to our students. The beauty of the Suisun Marsh is the backyard of Crystal Middle School. Providing students the opportunity to learn and love their backyard is incredible," shared Lucero Angel, a Science Teacher at Crystal Middle School.

Principal Jay Dowd added, "This program has transformed the way students see themselves in the world and their impact on their environment. It's a remarkable opportunity for our students to develop a deep appreciation for nature and understand their role in conservation."

The Science Summer Camp at Crystal Middle School is more than just an educational experience; it’s an opportunity for students to connect with nature and understand the importance of preserving their local environment. By combining classroom instruction with outdoor adventures, the camp inspires students to become future stewards of the Suisun Marsh.
