Fairfield, CA – The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) of Solano proudly celebrated the graduation of 11 dedicated parent leaders at a ceremony on March 19 at the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) Central Office.
The event marked the culmination of a 20-week leadership training program designed to empower parents with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to advocate for children and families in their communities. The Parent Leadership Training Institute is a collaboration between FSUSD and the Children's Network of Solano County.
The 2025 PLTI cohort completed a 20-week program focused on leadership, civic engagement, and advocacy. Participants engaged with local leaders, including elected officials and community advocates, to learn how to influence policy and develop strategies to drive meaningful change at local and state levels. Graduates presented capstone projects advocating for issues they were passionate about, applying their leadership skills to address real-world challenges within their communities.
“The Parent Leadership Training Institute provides a unique opportunity for parents to develop the skills necessary to make a lasting impact in their communities,” said Ronda Kogler, executive director of the Children's Network of Solano County. “We are incredibly proud of this year’s graduates and their commitment to strengthening families and advocating for meaningful change.”
“Many of our PLTI graduates take on leadership roles not only within our schools but also throughout the broader community,” said Holly Collins, Coordinator of Parent & Family Engagement for Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. “We are excited to see what the future holds for them as they use their leadership skills to drive meaningful change, amplify parent voices, and serve as vital leaders shaping a better future for children and families."
During the ceremony, graduates were recognized for their dedication and presented with certificates of completion. Guest speakers included representatives from FSUSD, the city of Suisun, and PLTI alumni who shared inspiring stories about the program’s impact on their advocacy efforts.
PLTI is a family civics initiative of the Connecticut Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity. The program empowers parents with the skills and confidence to advocate for children and drive meaningful change in their communities.
