Fairfield, CA - On May 8, 2024, students at David Weir Preparatory Academy had a special visit from author and illustrator Raina Telgemeier. Organized in collaboration with Solano Public Libraries, the event aimed to inspire students in grades 4 through 6 through the world of storytelling and illustration.
Ms. Telgemeier shared her profound love for reading comics, writing, and illustrations, captivating our scholars with her inspiring journey as an artist. Through engaging presentations, she demonstrated her passion for storytelling and the creative process behind her acclaimed works. Students had the unique opportunity to witness firsthand how Ms. Telgemeier begins her artwork when crafting a book.
The highlight of the visit was a dynamic one-hour assembly where Ms. Telgemeier interacted with our students, igniting their enthusiasm for literature and artistic expression. Following the assembly, she graciously offered a book signing session for students who brought copies of her books, leaving a lasting impression on our young readers.
