Fairfield, CA - On Thursday, October 12, 2023, the Fairfield-Suisun Adult School Cultural Inclusion Club hosted an event celebrating different cultures called "The Diversity: Multicultural Day". The event marked a significant milestone in the Club’s journey towards fostering a sense of togetherness among students from various cultural backgrounds.
"The Diversity: Multicultural Day" was an exciting event where Cultural Inclusion Club members shared their cultural traditions through activities like playing music, wearing traditional clothing, performing dances, reading poems that expressed their cultural pride, and serving traditional foods for everyone to enjoy.
Founded in 2019, the Cultural Inclusion Club aims to facilitate cultural awareness, knowledge exchange, and a sense of belonging among students. The Cultural Inclusion Club has organized remarkable events such as "Remembering our Ancestors," a celebration of diversity encompassing traditions from around the world.
The Cultural Inclusion Club has also taken students on field trips to the State Capitol Building, offering them an invaluable opportunity to witness government proceedings and engage with the legislative process. The club's officers and members had the privilege of meeting with Senator Bill Dodd on two occasions, where they discussed adult education and its transformative impact on their lives.
Kenia Macias, a teacher at Fairfield-Suisun Adult School and the devoted advisor of the Cultural Inclusion Club, expressed, "The Diversity: Multicultural Day showcased our school's remarkable cultural diversity. It's all about fostering inclusivity where each student can share their unique heritage. Both students and staff had a great time at the event and eagerly anticipate more in the future."
