Fairfield, CA - On Friday, March 15, 2024, students from Fairfield High School, Armijo High School, and the Public Safety Academy (PSA) had the special opportunity to meet with members of the United States Navy Blue Angels. The Blue Angels, who were in Fairfield ahead of their scheduled airshow, took time out of their busy schedule to engage with students and share insights into their careers.
During the visit, Blue Angels team members, including pilots and enlisted maintenance and support team members, presented a short informational video and spoke about their career paths, educational backgrounds, and the journey to becoming elite pilots. Students had the chance to ask questions and learn more about life as a Blue Angel, as well as explore potential career opportunities in aviation.
Dr. Sheila McCabe, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, played a pivotal role in coordinating these impactful visits, emphasizing the district's gratitude for its partnership with Travis Air Force Base. "We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Travis Air Force Base, and I love that they have taken such an interest in engaging with students in FSUSD," said Dr. McCabe.
Cassidy Lynn, a junior at PSA, expressed her excitement and newfound inspiration after attending the presentation. "I knew I wanted to be a pilot before this, but now I am even more excited. It was really interesting to be able to ask my questions and learn more about the different career choices for pilots," remarked Lynn.
The visit from the United States Navy Blue Angels provided local students with valuable insights and inspiration for their future career paths.
