Fairfield, CA - Cadets from the Public Safety Academy (PSA) in grades 10-12 have successfully completed the Work Ready Certification (WRC) Program, a comprehensive three-week course designed to equip students with essential workplace skills. The program, sponsored and facilitated by the Solano County Office of Education (SCOE), began on April 15th and concluded on Friday, May 3rd.
The WRC program is designed to prepare students for the workplace by instilling key skills such as professionalism, teamwork, and critical thinking. The sessions, held after school in the PSA library's downstairs classroom, focused on fostering self-confidence and encouraging students to work collaboratively with peers, mentors, and local business owners.
Throughout the three-week program, students learned vital work-ready skills, including the importance of a strong work ethic, self-motivation, professionalism, critical thinking, effective collaboration, a positive attitude, time management, customer service, appropriate workplace communication, and respect for diversity.
Danica Matthews, College and Career Tech, expressed her satisfaction with the program's success, stating, "This was such a successful WRC year for PSA! We had 23 Cadets start and complete the WRC, and we are super proud of the commitment that our Cadets made each day for 3 weeks, showing up on time and ready to work." She also acknowledged the contributions of the program's facilitators, adding, "Special shout out to Mr. Rodney Fisher from FSUSD, who has run the program at PSA for 3 years, and Ellerie Mattias for leading the pack and getting our Cadets work-ready."
SCOE College and Career Development Specialist Rodney Fisher commented on the program's success, saying, "This is the largest program we have had, and it was a challenge getting through all of the students. But in the end, it was one of the most successful WRCs we have ever had."
The successful completion of the Work Ready Certification Program by PSA Cadets demonstrates the value of programs that focus on career development and workplace skills. By participating in WRC, these Cadets are better prepared for the demands of the modern workforce and equipped with the skills necessary to succeed in their future careers.
