Fairfield, CA - The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District is proud to announce that eight talented Jazz Choir students from Rodriguez High School have been selected to participate in the prestigious All-State Jazz Choir at the California All-State Music Educators Conference.
Out of over a hundred submissions, Trevor Canning, Gabriella Diaz, Brooklynn Filstrup, Aiden Mandate, Ashlyn Miller, Jana Orbegoso, Hero Runas, and Sofia Vallejos-Coleman will join the eighteen-piece choir in performing at the conference.
The selection process for the All-State Jazz Choir was highly competitive, with students required to submit recordings of specific scales and jazz vocal charts by December 1st. A panel of experts then evaluated the submissions, and the eighteen students selected were notified at the beginning of January.
The eight Rodriguez High School students performing at the California All-State Music Educators conference have been working hard to prepare for their performance, memorizing five songs and practicing their assigned parts with the other All-State Jazz Choir members. The conference will take place this week in Fresno, and the All-State Jazz Choir will open Friday night’s concert with the first performance of the conference.
"We are incredibly proud of these talented students and their dedication to their craft," said Rodriguez High School’s Director of Music, Scott Miller. "Their selection for the California All-State Music Educators Conference demonstrates their hard work and passion for music."
This is a major accomplishment for these eight students and FSUSD. The conference provides a unique opportunity for students to perform with the best young musicians from across the state and to learn from accomplished music educators.
