Fairfield, CA – Sheldon Academy of Innovative Learning hosted its much anticipated Annual Family Multicultural Night on Wednesday, October 18th. This vibrant and culturally rich event brought together students, teachers, families, and community members to celebrate the diverse backgrounds and heritages that make up the school community.
Attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditions of Ethiopia, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Turkey, Ukraine, and Vietnam. The evening was a showcase of cultural appreciation with displays featuring clothing and artifacts from around the world.
One highlight of the evening was the colorful and authentic traditional outfits worn by students, staff, and families. Visitors to the event were also treated to an array of interactive activities representing various countries. These activities included weaving demonstrations from Mexico, Asian fans, Kente Cloth from Africa, Dia De Los Muertos coloring, a collection of multicultural books, a pinata, and Zumba dancing. Attendees young and old had the opportunity to engage with, learn from, and appreciate the cultural diversity on display.
Principal Lewis expressed the importance of the Family Multicultural Night, stating, "Family Multicultural Night is about celebrating all the beautiful diversity that we have at Sheldon Academy of Innovative Learning. The students, staff, families, and community members are PROUD of where they came from, and we were able to learn from one another."
Nuvia Gutierrez, a parent and an attendee, shared her excitement by saying, "Multicultural Night was amazing!"
The Annual Family Multicultural Night at Sheldon Academy of Innovative Learning not only serves as a platform for embracing diversity but also fosters a sense of unity and understanding within the school community.
